Who am I?
My name is Montana, and I am a former public school English teacher and a current Library and Information Science student. I love to read published books and fanfiction, watch tv, listen to music, dance, write stories, make stuff, and spend time with my friends. I’m a former high school & college newspaper nerd and love consuming culture criticism & digital essays on books/movies/tv/publishing.
What is this?
“Stuff & Such” was the reply my dad would give me as a kid whenever I asked him what he was up to. It’s everything and nothing — much like this newsletter.
Stuff & Such started out as a way for me to hold myself accountable to writing and living in the post-pandemic world. I decided to leave the career I had been building in education throughout my twenties two years after COVID-19 changed the landscape of schooling and was faced with a lot of free time to finally do the things I loved. Only, because so much of my time had previously gone to work and school, I wasn’t super sure what those things were anymore. This newsletter became a place to catalog the things that brought me joy, and it ended up becoming a huge motivator for discovering what kind of life I want to live and who I want to share it with.
Do I Have to Pay?
The newsletter is *free* and comes out twice a month/monthly/once ever 3 months depending on ~life~. It is a curation of what I am reading, watching, cooking, making, following and listening to lately as well as cool s stuff I see on the internet and around The Bay. The star-ratings indicate how much joy it brought me (not necessarily how good the quality is), and the introductions are always longer than they should be. If you like a wordy bxtch, I’m your girl.
EVERY POST IS FREE.
Any “Upgrade to Paid” option is simply a way for people to support if they’d like to (like a tip jar, I guess?)
If you like this newsletter, the best way to support is to share it with other people, comment, “like” it etc. It warms my heart to see more folks reading it!
XO,
M
